On 1 December 2018, WHO will join global partners to commemorate world AiDs Day  under the theme "know your status" This will also be an occasion to  celebrate the 30th anniversary of World AIDS Day - a pioneering global health campaign first intiated by WHO is 1988.

AIDS full form Acquired immunodeficieny syndrome.
HiV full form Human immunodeficiency virus.

AIDS Important News

➤ kills around 1 million people globally every year.

➤ 37.9 million peoples globally were living with HIV
as of 2018 in which
 ➤ In which 36.2 million were adult

➤ 1.7 million were children who were less than is years of age and most starting facts is about 8.1 million peoples were unaware of their condition before they tested.

To Everyone's Great Relief

The number of people dying Aids has come down.

Globally ~ 770,000 people died in 2018.

World AIDS Day Facts

The first world AIDS Day is held on December 1st, 1988.

The First Case of AIDS


The disease is renamed Acquired Immune Deficieny Syndrome (AIDS). Canada reports  its first case of AIDS in March. It is realized that the infection can be sexually transmitted and  caused by HIV. Cases are reported in blood transfusion.

Women Can Become Infected

It is discovered that women can become infected with AID through heterosexual Sex.

From Mother to Child

It is discovered that HIV can be passed from mother to children through breast-feeding.
